Deep Dive

How can I help you?

My goal is to help you take control of your life.

When life seems out of control, I will walk beside you on your journey of growth and healing.

Religious Trauma

Religious trauma, cult abuse, or simply loss of faith, this is an experience that can wound us to the core.

At a deep level, we may seek to find meaning in life.  Unfortunately, in religious trauma, that search for meaning may have been used against you.  This can leave a long lasting effect that threatens to shake our faith.

You may be on the path of recovery after leaving a cult.  Or you may be on the journey of healing from childhood experiences.

I can help you to discover your genuine self and walk your path of truth.

Trauma

Trauma happens to everyone, but how everyone responds and copes is entirely individual.   It is often described as a normal response to an abnormal situation.

We adapt to an abnormal situation to survive.  Trauma responses become problematic when these adaptive behaviours continue after the threat has ended.

The key to healing from trauma is rebuilding your sense of safety.  I will do this with you so that you can regain control of your life.

It is important to understand that trauma processing does not mean retelling your story and I will never make you do this.  It is more important that you feel safe as you heal.

Mental Health

Whether it is anxiety, panic attacks, depression, emotional distress, or inability to sleep, I will work with you to help manage your mental health.

It is estimated that nearly half of the population will experience a mental health episode.  This means that either you someone you know is likely to experience this.

Whether you need support for yourself or a loved one, you can learn techniques to ease your journey through troubled waters.

Unfortunately, there is still a lot of stigma around mental health, which is why I create a safe space for healing.

I can guide you through complex emotions and help you to understand and manage emotional reactions.

Grief and Loss

Loss is unpredictable.  It can take us by surprise or march slowly towards us.

Today's society doesn't always understand the need to grieve our past or our losses.  I can hold space for your grief and help you to rebuild.

Loss can relate to loved ones, pets, or  a careers or lost job, health, or sense of identity.  Each loss is individual, personal, and can be deeply painful.

There is a way through these times.  I will walk beside you until you find your path again.

Neurodiversity, ADHD, Autism

Neurodivergence can look like many things.  :  Autism, ADHD, synesthesia, dyslexia, dyscalculia, Tourette's, and so much more.  â€‹This is different for everyone, yet impacts your life and relationships.

I like to think of the brain like a car - they are all different, some are manuals, some are automatics.  Some cars are low and can take corners fast; others have a high suspension and can traverse rocky roads with ease.

Learning about your brain and how it works means you will be able to maximise your strengths and stabilise your weaknesses.

And no, we are not all "a little bit on the spectrum".  That is like saying everyone is a little bit left handed.

Building Positive Change

Change is hard, which is why working collaboratively with a professional can smooth and accelerate the changes you want.

You may be looking for a new job, but you are not sure where to start.  You may want to improve relationships, but don't seem to be able to break old patterns.  Or you may simply be on a journey of self-improvement and you are looking for an outside perspective.

I can help you to recognise stumbling blocks, create strategies, and build on your strengths.

Relationships and Family

Relationships are tricky and can be hard to navigate.  It is so easy to get caught in cycles of turmoil, or the push-pull of need-fear.

Whether it is a family member, parent, friend, or intimate partner, it is important to have healthy boundaries, respect, and space to grow.

This can be very hard in an abusive relationship and you may need additional support.  Recovery from narcissistic abuse is a gentle and steady process.

Often this requires deep reflection, which I will do with you in a safe environment.  I will help you to unravel the dynamics at play and build behaviours and strategies to foster deep and healthy relationships.

Processing Past Memories

It is not unusual to be troubled by past memories, or fragments of memories.  These can be images, sounds, smells, or even feelings that don't seem to relate to anything.

Unpleasant memories are usually harmless and we can quickly dismiss them.  However, sometimes these fragments can disturb our peace, as they are remnants of something that is unresolved.

I can work with you to gently find resolution.  This does not mean digging up old, unpleasant memories.  It is all about finding a safe way to acknowledge their meaning and then move on.

Nightmares and Flashbacks

Dreams are a way that we process events of the day.  Though, when we wake, they can seem obscure and sometimes frightening.

Yet dreams can also carry a meaning that will help us along our journey.  Whether that is healing from trauma, dealing with difficult situations in our daily life, to working through inner conflicts.

By working through the imagery of dreams, I can help you to unlock their meaning and find understanding.

Flashbacks are often associated with trauma.  They happen while we are awake, and can also be very frightening.  These are different from dreams, and I would work with them as a trauma response.  Grounding tools are critical when working with distressing flashbacks.
